I can't understand why I am being forced to use medicare instead of medical for my scripts!!!!! Some of the things I take are not covered leaving me to pay full price. and what is covered I am now having to pay a small fee for it when medical paid for it all and I paid nothing!

THANK YOU VERY MUCH GOV.....YOU SHOULD HAVE STAYED AN ACTOR!!!!! ME

I wish I knew more about the differences between Medicare and MediCal. I was on MediCal when I didn't have insurance for my son when I was out of work. I was supposed to pay $25.00 a month, which included a psych appointment once a month and all meds necessary. I never had to deal with MediCare. I wish I had an answer for you. sad.gif

Hang in there. Maybe some others will have some more insightful information for you.

I agree...it's a mess!

In Wisconsin you can buy into Medicaid (that's what MediCal is I think) check with the MediCal office...you pay a monthly premium but a lot more is covered.

check with Social Security to make sure you have applied for the extra help for prescriptions www.ssa.gov.

check with medicare.gov to compare the Part D plans and make sure you are enrolled in one that covers your meds....its work to go over each plan and each med you take, but it's worth it.

and for meds that aren't covered....the drug companies have patient assistant programs....Partnership for Prescription assistance...

I was on the medicare.gov website yesterday and you can type in your meds and they will show you which plans will cover your meds, as well as comparing costs of different plans. For a government thing, pretty impressive. I happened upon it, so can't explain how I got there... may take some searching, but it's there someplace. Good luck!
Blessings,
Jen

Dragon, this link is to a short list of the prescription assistance programs out there. I'm working on updating it to add some of the new ones, but this is what we have for now. Hopefully, one of them will be able to help with your med costs.

The short answer to the difference between Medicaid (MediCal) and Medicare is that Medicaid is state run and funded, Medicare is federal and comes from your payments into Social Security and Medicare while/when you were/are working.

Hope that clears a little confusion. --Fred
