This is just something that was running through my mind.... a mere thought.....

Do you ever wonder why we grow up and compare stories with our brothers and sisters or cousins or friends about how we were treated as a child. Whether we were spanked with the belt or a shoe, slapped in the mouth, got the electric cord, etc.? It's because the children don't forget. People think it is a part of punishment. Perhaps -- but not to the extent that 30 years later it is that simple to remember. It obviously did more damage than we believe.

I agree...... disipline or abuse.....thin line. No child deserves to be hit ever

I think you are right, Aisha. I also think that "abuse" is sometimes hard to define. It sort of depends on more than the "action" itself. I have to admit that when I was called a *itch, sooooooomeone got a pop that they didn't forget the next time they thought about calling me that.

Each child needs discipline...pity that many parents have no clue how to gear the dicipine to each child's needs and what they respond to best.
