yet another injured pigeon from the street that I saw on my way to work
Not sure if his wing is broken or not ... hopefully it's not
but first his entire back is bruised, some feathers missing ... I'm guessing hit by a car or gashed by a cat not sure ... bruise completely covered with ANTS
so first of all washed him off in the sink here at the ladies bathroom at my office, dried him with paper towels ... doused his back area with the bruise with hydrogen peroxide and put neosporin all over it ...
he's now here in a box I cut so that I can see if he's breathing or not sleeping at my desk ... have him resting on newspaper and paper towels, covered lightly with a sheet of paper towel and my sweater lightly over him to keep him warm cause of the air conditioning
Let's see now if he survives ... of course he will be set free when he is fully healed ... I've named him LUCKY ... will post pics of him when I reach home cause I took pics already with the camera on my phone but I don't have the usb cable to put them up

well ... he is home here with me and now is the real test to see if he survives the night or not
I took him to the vet ... his leg and wing are NOT broken nor fractured so that in itself is a good sign
the bruise is already drying up nicely or so it seems ... what they told me is that it's probably the pain from the wound being bitten by the ants that had the pigeon crunched in such a stiff awkward position and that once the wounds heal he should be able to perch on TWO feet and of course fly again at which point he will be set free
Will update in the morning ... I'm not sure yet if I'm leaving him home here in the care of my dad or if I'm toting him to my office.

sadly Lucky was not so lucky after all ... he didn't survive the night ... it seemed though that he passed away peacefully while he was asleep as I found him in the same position from when I last checked him before turning in that night
My boss said at least he died comfortably cause he would have had a terrible passing on the road where I had found him if I had left him there
RIP Little Lucky Pigeon
