I spend some time trying to figure out if I should post this here, chit chat, or the grins and giggles forum. It's a different view on mood disorders for sure!

The Evolutionary Reason For Depression

A few quotes from that article:

Quote

Still, those who suffer from depression do get the benefits of enhanced mental skills.

These mental boosts are often responsible for quality creative output.

I'm still trying to figure out if it is a spoof or what, but I found it amusing. I don't think it is since it goes on to use source material from The New York Times.

What do you think?

(((TH))))

yeah, I've seen this one. And I dont think it's a spoof. I think it's really pushing it.

of course, we can make the best of things...but to say that depression /bipolar exists because it makes folks creative just doesnt seem right.

Why I Love Wisconsin ...

It's winter in Wisconsin.........And the gentle breezes blow, ........ 70 miles per hour at 52 below!
Oh, how I love Wisconsin When the snow's up to your butt.
You take a breath of winter air......... And your nose is frozen shut.
Yes, the weather here is wonderful, ........... I guess I'll hang around.
I could never leave Wisconsin,............ ' Cause I'm frozen to the ground.

I don't buy that there is any advantage to being depressed. I find I make less rational decisions in a depressed state. I think it's just a disorder and doesn't not have an evolutionary reason.
